Day #49: Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Today was the last day of my literature class with sweet Coro!!
Here she is reaching to get a little surprise for us from her bag...
 CHOCOLATE COVERED SUNFLOWER SEEDS!!!
A perfect boost of energy before a final exam!
 CRISTINA GOT A HAIRCUT!!!
 Dinner tonight...
My cough drops melted in my backpack...so I had to wash off all my pens and pencils because they had "cough drop goo" on them.  Heading to London tomorrow!
So thankful for this verse that has been very comforting to me recently:
"For the word of the LORD is true, and all His work is done in faithfulness." Psalm 33:4

Day #48: Monday, February 25, 2013

Cristina is on a diet...and she loves to show us her "eating plan" at every meal.
I found this magnifying glass today sitting on top of these diet sheets...
Got a little taste of the FOTH this afternoon from Isabelle and Taylor!!!
This picture isn't super clear, but Cristina got the biggest kick out of the pencil in my bun...
Tomorrow is Miguelangel's birthday!  (We're not really sure what his name is...it might have an "o" at the end...)  He is Cristina's youngest son, and he joined us tonight for dinner!
 First banana in España!
Special birthday milkshakes...

Day #47: Sunday, February 24, 2013

This was our meeting place for the weekend:  Las Setas!!!
Started our day with spending a few minutes in a museum with maps from the explorers!
Then some quiet time at a cafe on the river!
Doesn't get much prettier than this...
Sunny-D always reminds me of my grandmother Bets!
Showed Kelley my stomping grounds...this is the entrance to my apartment building!
Tried to pop in Corte Ingles, but it was closed!
Maria Luisa park!
A silly selfie...
 Rayas famous ice cream!!!
Went to the BUX and facetimed these sweet friends:  Macon!!!
 Janie!!!
 Hannah!!!
Time to eat once again...
Then the grand finale of our weekend...tea and chocolate caliente at the Alfonso hotel!
Love the ambiance of the Alfonso!  And our waiter was named George, and he was from Holland!
 Comic relief...
I pulled the total touristy look today...cords and tennis shoes.  And Kelley got the biggest kick out of the bike lane, marked by these silver plates!

Day #46: Saturday, February 23, 2013

Sorry I was a little overkill with taking pictures with Kelley...
Cafe con leche and some sweet time to reflect and share!!!
 Alcázar gardens!!!
 and again...
Took Kelley to EUSA to show her my home away from home!!!
One of my favorite treats here:  chocolate palmera (or a chocolate heart, as I like to say!)...and Thanks, Dad, for the drawstring bag!!! It came in handy this weekend!
Walked across the river on Calle Betis.
A crowd favorite...this is one man and he uses his hands as the woman's boots.
Paella for lunch!
Special cookies from behind the booth!
 Dinner in el Centro!
Didn't really know what I was ordering, but it tasted pretty yummy.
Fried eggs are common here for dinner!
Maggie's friends, Caroline and Kelsey, were here this weekend too!
Went to Marca to try and watch the Carolina vs. State game,
but we watched some soccer instead!!!

Day #45: Friday, February 22, 2013

Goodness gracious, what a BLESSING to have Kelley here in Sevilla for the weekend!!! Silly Mary Carr was a little uncertain about the bus stations, and I was so worried that Kelley had arrived and I wasn't at the right bus stop...but we found each other without any problems.  Thank goodness!!!
We dropped all her stuff off at the hostel and then the FUN BEGAN...
Stumbled upon this little restaurant for lunch, and it hit the jackpot!
Coke, bread, soup, and dessert all four 5 Euros!
Las Setas!!!
Gotta get the picture with the horse in front of the cathedral!
 And another...
At the top of the Giralda!!! It was a bit rainy but that didn't stop us!!!
Met up with some friends from Elon outside the good ol BUX!!!
Ran into Janie Elmore in front of the university!! Such a fun surprise!
 Plaza de España!
 On the river...
Had to introduce Kelley to chocolate caliente aka a MELTED CHOCOLATE BAR IN A CUP!!!
I want to learn how to make this because it is incredible.  Tastes like Sallie's special chocolate sauce, but rather than having to sneak spoonfuls, I CAN DRINK A WHOLE CUP OF IT!!!!
Went to dinner with Mackenzie and her friend, Matt, who is visiting from Tuledo.
Cristina's daughter, little Cristina, is here this weekend!! She is so sweet and we always hear big Cristina talk about her, so it was great to finally meet her!!!
